Prof. Aurora Hernandez-Machado is Full Professor of the Departament of Condensed Matter Pysics. She received her PhD on Physics from the University of Barcelona, Spain in 1985. She was Postdoctoral Fellow at the Philipps Universitat, Margburg (Germany) and University Fulbright Scholar at the University of Pittsburgh (U.S.A.) between 1985 in 1987. Her main interest focused on dynamics of interfacial systems at the micro and nanoscale. Beside other projects she works since 2003 on biomembranes and microfluidics both on theoretical and experimental aspects. She has published more than 100 publications in international journals like Nature Materials, Nature Communications and Physical Review Letters and has an international patent under revision. She has an h= 22 and more than 1400 citations according to isi web of knowledge and h=25, more than 2000 citations and i100=3 according to google scholar. Prof. Hernandez-Machado is well founded by the Ministery of Research of Spain as a Research leader since 1994 and by European Projects. She is member of the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Biophysics Journal. She has been supervisor of 10 Ph.D. thesis. One of them has obtained and Award as the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Research in Biological Physics in 2010 by the American Physical Society in an international competition.
